MU-B3 | 53’ Straight Support Unit
Field Operations Trailer for Engineering, Audio, and Technical Support Teams
The MU-B3 is a 53-foot straight trailer designed as a mobile support infrastructure for large-scale live production environments. Configured with 10 working positions, internal climate control, and segmented operational zones, MU-B3 is ideal for use as an engineering annex, audio prep suite, production office, or cable management hub. Its layout is nearly identical to that of MU-B1, but it serves as an additional unit in Live Media Group’s support fleet, providing flexibility and capacity for events that require multiple engineering or flypack support zones.
Vehicle Specifications
Floorplan Layout
As seen in the floorplan diagram on page 1, MU-B3 is divided into clearly defined sections optimized for support workflows:
This design allows multiple departments to work in tandem without overcrowding a primary production truck.
Functional Use Case
MU-B3 is purpose-built for crew overflow and technical support. It does not include a production switcher, replay system, or core router, but it provides a flexible workspace in support of those systems. It can serve in roles such as:
This makes it especially useful when working alongside mobile units such as MU-10, MU-28, or any REMI-focused trucks where on-board space is reserved for core switching or acquisition.
Cable Infrastructure
MU-B3 does not come with a fixed cable load. Instead, cable inventory is customized per project, ensuring each deployment is tailored to production needs. Cable sets may include:
By customizing cabling to the show format, MU-B3 can operate as a patch room, cable landing zone, or integration point for auxiliary systems.
Power & Environment
Climate control is ideal for long workdays and protects sensitive gear from exposure or heat fluctuations.
Why MU-B3 Stands Out
MU-B3 is a foundational component in multi-unit broadcast compounds. While it doesn’t switch or mix, it houses the people who make those systems work: the engineers, audio techs, producers, and signal integrators. It is ideal for both high-density events where space in production trucks is limited, and smaller events needing mobile office and engineering space without the overhead of a full control room.
Its similarity to MU-B1 means crews can scale up operations seamlessly. When a large show requires multiple control rooms, patch positions, or decentralized flypacks, MU-B3 ensures the infrastructure is there to support them.
