MU-B9 | 53’ Single Expando Support Unit
Advanced Production and Engineering Workspace for Remote and Hybrid Workflows
The MU-B9 is a purpose-built 53-foot single-expando support trailer engineered to provide essential infrastructure and collaborative workspaces for engineering, production, and operations teams in the field. Designed with flexibility and crew comfort in mind, MU-B9 features 10 fully equipped workstations, a segmented layout for function-specific roles, and full environmental control. Its spacious floorplan makes it ideal for large-scale live productions, REMI environments, and broadcast compounds requiring additional workspace and infrastructure support.
MU-B9 is optimized to operate as a crew base, coordination hub, or technical extension of larger mobile units. It supports overflow engineering personnel, comms staff, producers, and technical directors by providing a fully climate-controlled space outfitted with all necessary power, desk space, and connectivity for day-to-day operations.

Interior Floorplan
The floorplan on page 1 provides a clear layout divided into five distinct zones
MU-B9-Specs
- Production Area: The left third of the trailer contains a row of seven operator seats, suitable for show callers, producers, EICs, and comms or engineering roles. This area is ideal for multi-user collaboration and on-site logistics control.
- Engineering Room (ENG): A dedicated space immediately adjacent to production, outfitted with two operator stations. This area supports routing, monitoring, or fiber patch operations and is well-isolated for technical workflow focus.
- Audio Bay: Centrally located and enclosed for acoustic control. Designed for use by A1 or comms leads requiring audio isolation or monitoring functionality.
- Flex 2 & Flex 3 Zones: Located near the right side of the trailer, these workstations serve as floating technical spaces. Flex 2 includes two side-by-side seats, while Flex 3 offers additional seating and counter workspace. These zones are ideal for data techs, network engineers, control systems, or overflow audio/comms.
- Access Points: Multiple door entries allow for independent ingress to production and flex zones without crossing signal-critical pathways.
This zoning allows each department to work independently while benefiting from centralized power and environmental systems.
Cable Infrastructure
As with other support trailers in the Live Media Group fleet, MU-B9’s cable loadout is fully customizable based on production scale and signal requirements. Options include:
- SMPTE hybrid fiber
- Triax
- DT12 audio mult
- TAC-12 tactical fiber
- Analog XLR
- 5- and 10-wire coax bundles
The trailer can also serve as a mobile cable termination and patch hub, integrating directly with trucks, flypacks, or remote interface points.
Use Cases
MU-B9 is ideal for:
- Engineering or audio overflow during multi-truck shows
- REMI/flypack support where main units house switching or replay
- Field production management and communications
- Technical prep and cable management hub
- Disaster recovery or portable control environments
Whether deployed alone or as part of a compound, MU-B9 ensures production teams maintain control, clarity, and separation of roles even on the most complex broadcasts.
Why MU-B9 Stands Out
MU-B9’s expanded footprint, zone-based interior, and robust infrastructure capabilities make it a premier support trailer for complex productions. Its combination of dedicated workspaces, full HVAC, customizable cabling, and practical power configuration offers crews a stable, professional-grade work environment that scales with the size and complexity of any show. It serves not just as extra space, but as a critical component of field operations strategy.
